Job Description
The Assistant Grower is a key member of our greenhouse team, specializing in the cultivation of leafy greens. This role supports the Head Grower in all aspects of greenhouse operations. The Assistant Grower helps ensure optimal plant health and productivity by assisting with the management of environmental conditions, nutrient application, and integrated pest management.
Main responsibilities
- Assist in managing the daily operations of leafy green production, including seeding, fertilizing, and harvesting.
- Monitor greenhouse environmental conditions (temperature, humidity, light levels) and adjust controls to maintain optimal growing conditions. Operate a climate control software.
- Help implement and apply integrated pest management strategies to control pests and diseases.
- Participate in the application of nutrients and fertilizers according to the crop's specific needs.
- Assist with record-keeping related to planting schedules, crop rotations, yields, food safety and environmental conditions.
- Work closely with the Head Grower to evaluate plant health and make recommendations for adjustments in care and cultivation practices.
- Help maintain greenhouse cleanliness and organization to ensure a safe and productive work environment.
- Contribute to the team effort by accomplishing related tasks as needed.
- Participate in the weekend shift program.

Knowledge and skills sought!
- Degree or certification in horticulture, agriculture is preferred.
- Minimum of 3-year experience in greenhouse or vertical farms production, specifically with leafy greens, is highly desirable.
- Understanding of hydroponic systems and sustainable agriculture practices is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail and observational skills to identify issues before they escalate.
- Ability to work in various environmental conditions, including high humidity and temperatures.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and growing techniques.
- Willingness to get certified as pesticide applicator in Quebec.
- Fluent in English. French and Spanish is desirable.
